About Katka

the founder and head teacher of Odyseas

My first pedagogical success was when my brother started reading at the age of 5. I started tutoring Czech and English to children at high school. I have more than 10 years of experience in teaching languages. During my studies of Modern Greek and Teaching Czech as a foreign language at the Charles University, I spent some time teaching Czech abroad, particularly in Athens and London, and it gave me a whole new perspective on teaching.

I am always working on my personal development and self-improvement. In cooperation with non-profit organizations I have worked as a methodologist, coordinator and supervisor. As a kindergarten teacher I have focused on language acquisition in preschool age. Nowadays I am training other teachers and I am teaching Czech to little foreigners in Prague’s preschools.

Mother tongue and foreign languages are riddles to be solved. Acquiring new language means a new way of thinking. I love languages and I love my job. Maybe that’s the reason why my students keep coming back…

Our philosophy

Teaching (especially children) is about relationship. While teaching children I often collaborate with the whole family. In a way I become part of your family and you become part of mine. We are partners with the common goal. I truly believe that each student can experience the sheer joy of making progress and that every child deserves to reach his/her potential.
